The Medical Fitness Network donates its services as a database management company to medical & health organizations who do not offer resources to find fitness and allied healthcare professionals who offer services for those with chronic diseases, medical conditions or who need pre & post natal care. It also connects trainers and facilities with clients who need their services that may not know about them otherwise.
The National Arthritis Foundation, the largest nonprofit medical organization in the U.S. and a growing list of other medical health organizations, such as the Alzheimer’s Research & Prevention Foundation, American Breast Cancer Foundation, MS Fitness Challenge, and the National Osteoporosis Foundation, ZERO Cancer are supported by the MFN project.
“There are 80 million baby boomers that make up about 30% of our nation. As this population ages, we are seeing a significant increase in obesity, chronic disease & individuals with multiple medical conditions. According to the (CDC), 80% of older adults have one chronic medical condition, & 50% have 2 or more. Public health efforts to promote health & functional independence are critical strategies in helping older adults stay healthy & live independently. Regular physical activity is one globally accepted strategy to promote and preserve health. Developing a plan for regular exercise can be difficult and people with chronic medical conditions have an even greater challenge.” Lisa Dougherty of MFN explains, “Our mission is to donate our services to over 100 medical & health organizations who do not offer resources to find fitness professionals/gyms that offer services for their populations.”
