American Specialty Health Fitness and the Silver&Fit Program Announce Agreement with Medical Fitness Network<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"silver&fit-pms\"San Diego (October 29, 2015)<\/b> \u2013 American Specialty Health Fitness, Inc. and theSilver&Fit\u00ae Exercise and Healthy Aging Program<\/a> have announced their endorsement of the Medical Fitness Network<\/a> (MFN), a national health and fitness provider referral service.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmerican Specialty Health Fitness and MFN share a mutual goal of educating the public about healthy living, chronic disease management, and health risk factors,\u201d said ASH Fitness Vice President Brett Hanson, MBA, MBF, DFSS, NASM-SFS. \u201cASH Fitness connects older adults and other Medicare eligibles to low-cost and no-cost fitness facilities, exercise centers and senior health information. MFN connects individuals with chronic disease\/medical conditions to a national network of health and fitness professionals or facilities who can help them with a fitness program or other allied healthcare.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Medical Fitness Network is excited to partner with American Specialty Health Fitness and the Silver&Fit program,\u201d said MFN President and Founder Lisa Dougherty. \u00a0\u00a0\u201cThey provide outstanding \u00a0fitness services to our aging populations through a national network of contracted fitness facilities. Our goal is to help qualified individuals with health challenges find local fitness facilities and instructors in the Silver&Fit network.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since 2007, the Silver&Fit program has offered health plans evidence-based fitness and health education activities for their Medicare-eligible members and group retirees. The program provides eligible members with a fully or partially subsidized fitness membership through a broad network of more than 11,000 contracted fitness facilities nationwide, including national chains and YMCAs, as well as smaller, local community exercise centers. Silver&Fit reimburses fitness facilities on a monthly basis for all eligible and participating members.<\/p>\n

The Silver&Fit Signature Series Classes\u00ae offer three levels of group exercise programming created to target participants across a range of fitness levels\u2014from those who may require chair exercises to athletic, older adults who are already fit and active. Additional Silver&Fit approved exercise class formats in the categories of Strength\/Cardio, Dance, Yoga, Tai Chi, Aqua and Fall Prevention are offered through endorsed organizations. The program also gives members access to other facility amenities like fitness machines, weights, whirlpools and saunas.<\/p>\n
