The Medical Fitness Network strives to\u00a0improve the quality of life for those with chronic medical conditions by connecting them to the most qualified\u00a0fitness and healthcare professionals, bringing a holistic approach to the care of chronic illnesses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Women Survivors Alliance is honored to work alongside its partner corporations and organizations to help women achieve true survivorship, and a fulfilling, promising, and cancer-free life!,\u201d said Executive Director and Cancer Survivor, Karen Shayne. \u201cA partnership with the Medical Fitness Network will allow Women Survivors Alliance to connect our survivors, advocates, and family members to useful resources to assist them in their life\u2019s journey.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A balanced wellness plan is critical for surviving cancer. Studies show a strong connection between fighting cancer and important choices in physical activity and exercise, diet and nutrition, and lifestyle. Women Survivors Alliance and Medical Fitness Network have teamed up to support healthier living by connecting survivors with healthcare, wellness, and fitness providers that best meet their needs for after cancer care.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur team at the Medical Fitness Network strives to connect the community to qualified health and fitness professionals to maximize wellness and quality of life,\u201d said MFN founder Lisa Dougherty. \u201cWe\u2019re dedicated to improving the quality of life for those with chronic illness, and are thrilled to be able to do so for those affected by cancer through a partnership with Women Survivors Alliance.<\/p>\n<p><b>About Women Survivors Alliance (WSA)<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Women Survivors Alliance has undertaken a national call to action to address the burdens of survivorship issues on women, their families, and by extension, society as a whole. It is 501(c)3 organization created BY women survivors FOR women survivors, providing\u00a0<b>Three Ribbons of Support<\/b>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>The First Ribbon<\/b>\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.survivorville.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.SURVIVORville.org<\/a>) is SURVIVORville. Held in Nashville, TN, this event brings together women survivors of all ages, all stages and all cancers. Education, motivation and life application are the focus, with celebrities, medical experts from all areas of survivorship, the Celebrate Survivors 5K and Walk, and more. And since it\u2019s Nashville, there\u2019s gotta be music!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>The Second Ribbon<\/b>\u00a0of support is the WSA digital magazine\u00a0<i>NOU<\/i>, for women survivors living a NEW+YOU life after cancer\u00a0(www.NOUMagazine.org). A comprehensive resource, its dynamic content includes articles on nutrition, exercise, finances, sexuality, health, a book club, a directory of cancer and survivorship organizations across the internet, and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>The Third Ribbon<\/b>\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.survivors2ndact.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.Survivors2ndAct.org<\/a>)\u00a0We believe helping is healing, and encourage women to tell their stories \u2013 either written or read before an audience \u2013 of using their gifts of time and experience to help other women on their cancer journeys. So we created My 2nd Act, a ever-growing collection of survivor essays, and My 2nd Act: Survivor Stories from the Stage, a professionally produced\u00a0stage featuring 12 women each reading their 5 minute stories.
