Barry Joins MedFit Network Advisory Board<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>(COSTA MESA, CA, July 28, 2018)<\/strong>\u2013 The MedFit Network (MFN), announced today the appointment of Michael A. Barry, former Executive Director at the American College of Preventive Medicine, to the MedFit Network Advisory Board.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>With over three decades of experience with health-related non-profit organizations, Mr. Barry embodies the mission and spirit of the MFN, and we\u2019re so pleased to have him on our board<\/em>,\u201c said MFN Founder Lisa Dougherty.<\/p>\n<p>MFN Advisory Board members collaborate with staff and MFN partner organizations \u2013 the MedFit Education Foundation and the Medical Fitness Tour \u2013 to create and support educational programming for the fitness and allied healthcare professional sector, so that they can more effectively and safely work with aging and special populations.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cOur Board members share the MFN vision of coming together for a common good: to improve the quality of life for the aging population, and those with chronic disease or medical conditions,\u201d<\/em> said Dougherty.<\/p>\n<p><em>I am honored to join the MedFit Network Advisory Board. It\u2019s an extremely worthy and needed mission. This project is positioned to both educate and then link qualified fitness professionals to people with medical conditions and chronic diseases to facilitate physical activity <\/em><em>and fitness as medical therapy<\/em><em>,\u201d<\/em> said Michael Barry.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Michael A. Barry, CAE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Michael Barry has over 30 years\u2019 experience in health-related, non-profit organizations, including 21 years in senior management positions. Recently, Mr. Barry stepped down from a successful 13-year tenure as the executive director of the American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM), the leading U.S.-based physician organization focused on practice, research, publication, and teaching of evidence-based preventive medicine.\u00a0 In 2018, he received ACPM\u2019s prestigious Distinguished Service Award in recognition of outstanding contributions and service in the field of preventive medicine and for leadership in attaining the objectives of ACPM<\/p>\n<p>In his role at ACPM, Mr. Barry was responsible for executing the College\u2019s mission to improve the health of individuals and populations through evidence-based health promotion, disease prevention, and systems-based approaches to improving health and health care.\u00a0 He oversaw ACPM\u2019s operations, finances, governance, business development, and the broad array of educational and other programs and activities carried out by the College.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the MedFit Network (MFN) <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>MedFit Network (MFN) is a professional membership organization and a free online resource directory for consumers to locate fitness and allied healthcare professionals with a background in prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation in working with those with chronic disease or medical conditions. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.medfitnetwork.org\/\">medfitnetwork.org<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PRESS RELEASE Michael A.
