Jacqueline Gikow

Jacqueline Gikow is an independent, certified personal trainer, medical fitness specialist, and national board-certified health & wellness coach. The owner of Audacious Living NYC, a holistic, fitness practice in New York City, she focuses on pain relief through better movement. Jacqueline supports her clients’ determination to reduce injuries, hurt less, feel stronger, and live longer. She offers one-on-one fitness training in clients’ homes and private gyms, outdoors, and online.

Additionally, Jaqueline teaches group fitness at the Castle Hill YMCA in the Bronx. Her classes include water fitness (strength, aerobics, and arthritis management) and land-based workouts.

Jacqueline is certified with the National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM), the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBCHWC), the Aquatic Education Association (AEA), and MedFit Education. She is also an arthritis program leader (AFAP/AFEP) and aquatic rehab trainer (ATRI).

Feeling good about ourselves should be our goal. Who cares if we live to 120 if we’re miserable? We love to see that our clothes fit better. But how we look is less important than how we feel. Jacqueline’s clients are often limited by chronic diseases, injuries, inflammation, or other challenges. In managing chronic arthritis herself, Jacqueline understands the challenge to maintain fitness. She knows good movement is as important as eating, sleeping, and breathing. Improving movement patterns is an essential element of her fitness approach.

Fitness often focuses on how hard we train when we need to pay attention to the quality of movement. Jacqueline’s approach to fitness through movement coaching is to correct and enhance movement to avoid injury by promoting natural movement. Her tag line, “Inspiring you to move better, now, and tomorrow,” supports clients in achieving a flexible and realistic lifestyle. And she is mindful when listening to each client’s fitness and health concerns.

Also a writer/author, Jacqueline’s books on movement and managing pain are based on her personal, as well as professional experience. LIVING Pain Free: A Journey to Moving Better is a story of recovering from physical disfunction. In this book, Jaqueline relates her path to improving her health and offers a key to change through the example of “someone like me.” LIVE Pain Free: Your Journey to Move Better is a “this is what is possible” book. In Live Pain Free: Your Journey to Move Better, you learn how your past affects what hurts now. And you find ways to take control.

Active movement is a personal as well as professional interest. An avid cyclist, Jacqueline is a leader of group rides for the New York Cycling Club and bike commutes regularly. She also participates in extended bike tours. Past events include a ride across Iowa and North Carolina, bike camping the Erie Canal, and crossing the C&O Canal/GAP trails (from Washington, DC to Pittsburgh).
