What would you like to see change/develop/emerge in the future of healthcare and the fitness / allied healthcare industry?

In the future of Healthcare and the fitness/allied healthcare industry what I would like to see change is the focus on documentation and meeting insurance company algorithms and more focus on the client. I’d like to see the actual implementation of the evidence based model. A more balanced implementation where a shift of heavy emphasis on applying research findings as a protocol to client issues towards a focus on conducting a thorough interview and determination of the client’s needs, goals, choices, and decision process.

As far the fitness industry I would like to see more emphasis on professionalization. I believe that the fitness provider has become a commodity in the eyes of the consumer. Especially the personal training profession. I would like to develop educational content for the consumer so that they can increase their understanding and appreciation of the nuances of exercise. The consumer has an overly simplistic view of the exercise and the exercise process, tending to make all exercise and the ways that it is delivered equivalent. As great as exercise is for improving human health it can also degrade it – especially orthopedically and endrocinologically.

Serious attention needs to be shifted from thinking that exercise is primarily for weightloss and aesthetics (the outside) and towards the inside (the joints and soft tissues).

And what is your business doing to make this happen?

Our entire process from first contact to the long-term relationship building process is peppered with education and information pointing to this need. Our website posts research findings as education for the consumer and professional that a sensitivity and awareness of how exercise is affecting the inside is what really matters to attain and sustain the outside aesthetic.

Anything else we should know about your facility?

We are a group of dedicated and committed life-long learners. We are as interested in the development of a sound philosophy of exercise as the basis for informing our methodologies.
